KWAKYE AMEYAW, DIP, BSc, MSc, PhD
Dr Kwakye Ameyaw is credited with 40 years’ experience in the public service as a Technical Management practitioner, lecturer, researcher, and consultant. He was the immediate past Technical Advisor to the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission. He is currently an Adjunct lecturer at the School of Governance and Public Service at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Accra and teaches Emergency and Crises Management, Environmental Politics and management, Applied Occupational Health and Safety, Integrating Occupational Health and Safety into an Organizational Culture at the Post-Graduate level. He also doubles as a private consultant in Environment, Development, and Business Management. Dr. Kwakye Ameyaw’s expertise resides in Business and Environmental Management and Governance. He obtained his PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra and Diploma, BSc, and MSc from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds Post Graduate certificates awarded by academic/research institutions in Finland, China and Japan respectively.
Dr Ameyaw’s research interest is in Environmental Governance, Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Environmental Implications of Mining/Mine Waste Regulatory Regime, Organizational Development and Monitoring & Evaluation. Dr. Ameyaw has twelve (12) publications and fifty (50) papers in both local and international journals/fora respectively to his credit. Dr Kwakye Ameyaw has made a phenomenal contribution to public service in Ghana over the years and this has manifested in several areas. He served on sixteen (16) different committees in different capacities from 2001 to 2018. Dr. Ameyaw was the President of the Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF) from 2014-2018 during which time, he entered into an Institutional Partnership with the Canadian Forests Without Borders (FWB) in 2016 to establish a joint development project for vulnerable communities in forest endowed communities in Ghana.
He facilitated an MOU between the Ghana Forestry Commission and the Volta River Authority for managing the gourge of the Akosombo dam, established an Institutional partnership between the Forestry Commission and Lakehead University in Canada and the Chinese embassy in Ghana for capacity building. He initiated a similar partnership between the Forestry Commission and Toronto and Lakehead Universities in Canada for practical field training for post graduate Environmental Management students of the two Universities in Ghana. He co-supervised two and one Ghanaian Post Graduate Students in Environmental Management at the International University of Andalucia in Spain and the Technical University of Dresden in Germany respectively. Dr Kwakye Ameyaw is a team player with excellent human relations. He is a gospel preacher and loves gospel music. Dr Ameyaw is a Fellow of the Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners, Ghana (IMEP).
